This is a straightforward watch that really packs a ton of originality into its 38.5mm case. For one thing, the Saxonia family has not had a major date choice (without moonphase) for certain years now, and this model carries that style back alongside another type, the L086.8 (in light of the L086.1 that has been fueling the Saxonia Automatic since 2011. We’re getting the new Saxonia in two styles, one in white gold and one in pink gold, both with dim dark dials and matching dark date circles. As a programmed, time-and-date watch, this is an extraordinary every day wearer and the dull tones sheme makes it even more versatile.
The Original Saxonia
This is a unique model Saxonia, first delivered in 1994, alongside the Lange 1, Arkade, and Tourbillon “Pour le Mérite.” At 34mm, it’s little by the present norms, yet it’s an amazingly rich watch with a slightly particular character. The new Saxonia Outsize Date is kind of its otherworldly successor.
Why This Watch Matters
The unique Saxonia was delivered back in 1994, as a feature of the debut current A. Lange & Söhne assortment. What’s more, amazingly, it looked a ton like this. Certainly, the logo and speedy date set catch were set somewhat better (and the case was a much more modest 34mm), however the soul and usefulness of the watch are a lot of the equivalent. Obviously here you’re getting all the cutting edge Lange technology, including a 72-hour power hold, a twisting rotor with an external platinum mass, and a whiplash spring for exactness adjustments.
I have to say, it’s amazing to see Lange bring back this old top choice, however with the right present day touches. I like that as opposed to going for a yellow gold model with a silvered dial – the self-evident, old-school alternative – the assembling has picked to go with white and pink metals just as the all-dark dial. This is one I’m truly eager to take a stab at during the SIHH and a watch I could undoubtedly see myself wearing on a day by day basis.
